2026 Revitalization Day

Every movement needs a place where the vision becomes real. On Saturday, September 19, the future home of the Enfield Weatherization and Innovation Lab at 700 South McDaniel Street becomes that place.

Enfield Energy Futures is hosting our 2026 Revitalization Day, a community visioning gathering and cookout. From 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, we are bringing neighbors, families, and partners from across the state together to shape what this building, and an Enfield that owns its own energy future, can become.

Come for the BBQ and the music. Stay for the conversation. This is a day to dream out loud about what 700 South McDaniel Street should be for Enfield, what would make energy in our community more affordable, reliable, and dignified, and what it looks and feels like for a community to own its own future. There will be a family and kids' art table, energy demonstrations, and space for local makers and entrepreneurs.

New this year, a free EV Showcase. Right across the street, in the Market Plus IGA parking lot, we are filling a lot with electric cars, trucks, and bikes you can walk right up to and sit inside. The people who drive them will be there to answer every question you have, including the honest ones, about what it really costs to charge, how far it goes, and what they wish they had known. You can even take an electric bike for a ride. Most folks here have never sat in one of these vehicles, and after housing, getting around is the biggest cost most families carry. The technology that brings that cost down is not a far-off idea for people in other places. On September 19 it will be parked right here. The showcase is part of National Drive Electric Month, and like everything else that day, it is free and open to all.

Let us know if you’re coming!

Halifax County is one of the most energy-burdened counties in North Carolina. The building at 700 South McDaniel is a physical record of that history, and the beginning of its reversal. The hands-on construction will come later. September 19 is about people, belonging, and direction, and about celebrating real momentum together.

This is not a meeting. It is a homecoming for an idea.

No experience needed and nothing to prepare. Just bring yourself, your family, and your hopes for what comes next. Food, music, electric cars to climb into, and a warm welcome are all provided.
